Pinky Kekana was born in Bela-Bela. Kekana has completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree (specializing in Education and teaching). She currently reading for a Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Policy at the London School of Economics.

Kekana's experiences as a secondary school teacher fuelled her passion for education and South African’s young people. She is committed to improving opportunities for young South African’s, from all walks of life.

As an agent for change, Kekana is committed to increasing the profile of women on the African Continent, promoting women’s and equality more broadly. She wants everyone, but particularly women and girls to feel empowered.

As the Deputy Minister of Communications and someone from a rural town, Kekana understands and recognises the vital importance of bridging the Digital divide between people living, working and travelling in regional and remote parts of the country and those metropolitan cities.
Our society is rapidly moving towards using cutting edge technology and more people are getting access to the internet year on year. Kekana believes that rural South Africans should have access to 21st century ICT tools to run their businesses, complete their studies and connect with family and friends.
Kekana was elected to the Provincial legislature in 1999 and was re-elected in 2009. She has served as the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District and a MEC for Roads and Transport as well as a MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism.
In her role as a Member of Parliament, Kekana has been a part of a number of committees most notably the Standing Committee on Finance, Defence and the Ad Hoc Committee on the Filling of Vacancies in the Commission for Gender Equality. In March 2018 she was subsequently appointed as the Deputy Minister of Communications.
As the Secretary General of PAWO, Kekana is committed to ensuring that all African women, regardless of where they live, have access to opportunities that will benefit them and their local communities.

Tom Cochran

Tom Cochran spent over four years in the Obama administration as a presidential appointee and digital leader helping advance the President’s open government directive.

He currently speaks to international audiences about his experiences to help differentiate digital from IT, gain competitive advantage through emerging technologies, and embrace a "digital-first" culture.At the White House, he ran digital technology powering WhiteHouse.gov to amplify President Obama’s message, and led the team that built the 'We the People' petitions platform. He ran global public diplomacy platforms for the U.S. Department of State, emphasizing digital modernization, a cloud-first approach, and the power of relationships and networks to advance U.S. foreign policy abroad.





In the private sector, he ran the government business development practice as the Chief Digital Strategist and VP of Public Sector at Acquia, the leading cloud provider of digital experience management platforms. He also served as the Chief Technology Officer for Atlantic Media (i.e., owner of The Atlantic, Quartz, GovExec, National Journal brands).

He was the first person hired by Blue State Digital (Obama campaign's digital team), spending a few years engineering the early applications that would grow into the robust digital platform which helped President Obama raise $1.2 billion online in two election cycles.

Early in his career, he was the lead engineer and inventor on a content and feedback management system, which was awarded a U.S. patent.

Following the completion of her post-graduate degree in brand communications at Vega, Nagtegaal worked at a number of advertising agencies in South Africa, as well as one of the country's leading online commerce Web sites, Kalahari.net (now Takealot.com). After working for more than seven years within the advertising and online commerce sectors, Nagtegaal joined Lipco Law for All to provide support on the company's marketing and branding. In 2010, Nagtegaal founded Lipco Corporate (a Lipco affiliate) that specialises in the white labelling of Lipco's affordable legal cover policies to major corporates, including: Absa, Telesure, The Foschini Group, Bryte Insurance (previously Zurich), Metropolitan, Road Cover and Digicall.

In her role as the executive head of Hippo.co.za, Nagtegaal aims to position the brand as SA's consumer champion by offering customers better value through comparing products online before purchase. Nagtegaal was a key panellist at the 2018 African Insurance Forum, discussing the future of insurance among the growing list of disrupting digital competitors like Google and Amazon.

Dr. Bennie Steyn

Chief Technical Officer: ETION DIGITISE

Dr. Bennie is Chief Technical Officer for Etion Digitise where he is responsible for guiding railway systems engineering strategy and development within the company and has more than 37 years working experience in the railway systems and signaling arenas.

His recent railway project involvement includes leading the design and specification of the signaling, telecommunication and condition monitoring systems required for the upgrade of the TFR Manganese export line and the Majuba link line. Recently he conducted the assessment of the Western Australian railway strategy for train control and migration to onboard authorisation systems.

He also contributed to the provision of GSM-R communication systems in the South African metropolitan areas and the provision of systems engineering and integration services on the country wide passenger rail re-signaling program.

Experience with on-board electronic systems include a feasibility study of in-cab signaling and protection systems for sub-urban passenger railways, as well as the development of freight rail communication and control systems.

He led the development of integrated railway systems such as rolling stock and infrastructure condition monitoring for TFR. He is also experienced with development of electromagnetic compatibility standards and compliance assessment of most of the rolling stock employed in South Africa.

I commenced my career as a telecommunications engineer and diversified into leadership to be able to manage multi-disciplinary teams in the business with efficacy. My experience in ICT and energy sectors has further developed my skills as an exceptional communicator, politically astute at all organizational level, with a consultative business approach. I have recently completed my Doctorate studies (DBA) cum laude, through the development of a strong knowledge of global strategic imperatives in energy, ICT and private sectors globally. I have always excelled throughout my career in through conviction; driving new dimensional thinking to drive business concept to fruition (Blue Ocean Strategy).

I am a frequent keynote speaker at International symposium on the subject of ICT, Digital Trends, Internet of Things (IOT), Innovation, Augmented Reality, Customer Centricity, Business sustainability in a digital economy. I excel in using research, best practices and new thought leadership models to influence team success and business financial sustainability. I currently serve as a director on the Information Technology Association (ITA SA) board due to my experience in management consulting, business development, finance, operations, leadership, marketing, multiple brand management, product development, strategic sales, new business development, analysis & gearing R&D to meet
business and client needs. In partnership with government, the ITA interprets the World Information Technology (WITSA) imperatives translating them into local execution able strategies and implications for the ICT industry at large in SA. I have extensive client engagements knowledge in South Africa, SADC and Globally.
