As the executive head of Hippo.co.za, Vera Nagtegaal’s extensive experience in business speaks to her drive in the business world and her passion for forming mutually beneficial partnerships within the corporate environment.
Following the completion of her post-graduate degree in brand communications at Vega, Nagtegaal worked at a number of advertising agencies in South Africa, as well as one of the country’s leading online commerce Web sites, Kalahari.net (now Takealot.com). After working for more than seven years within the advertising and online commerce sectors, Nagtegaal joined Lipco Law for All to provide support on the company’s marketing and branding. In 2010, Nagtegaal founded Lipco Corporate (a Lipco affiliate) that specialises in the white labelling of Lipco’s affordable legal cover policies to major corporates, including: Absa, Telesure, The Foschini Group, Bryte Insurance (previously Zurich), Metropolitan, Road Cover and Digicall.
In her role as the executive head of Hippo.co.za, Nagtegaal aims to position the brand as SA’s consumer champion by offering customers better value through comparing products online before purchase. Nagtegaal was a key panellist at the 2018 African Insurance Forum, discussing the future of insurance among the growing list of disrupting digital competitors like Google and Amazon.
